Flashback Fermata

Written on a reflection that happened sometime in April 2013

How do you describe it? It was a moment that transcends years and sentiments. A moment that had brewed for years. Somewhere in Australia I was standing at the gate of a very guarded camp. Twice had something like this happened. In fact, probably a hundred times, much of which are unspoken, untold, unremembered. The prospect of getting through those gates is slim, and of returning, infinitesimal. Infinitesimal: what an ancient word from the pocket of khaki shorts, a story for another day. Sentimentality traverses times freely, too freely. The psalmist revealed that He will be with us when we are in trouble, and of what follows that verse. To that I whisper a thank to beyond the stars.

It was a fermata moment. I love music, as much as I can reflect. Emo? What an excuse for a lack of understanding and of vocabulary, isn't it?
