Caro Crunch

I finally met up with Frank from chess.com and had an over the board game with him. Due to time constraint, we could only have one match. It was a semi open branch of the Caro Kann game. I expected him to be more aggressive and deployed a more defensive stance right from the beginning. Indeed as blows were exchanged and the middle game played out cautiously, my position breaks slowly under his consistent pressure. The turning point in the game was when an overlooked dark bishop countered white to gain me the opportunity to exchange both my rooks for his queen. I took the gamble... and luck was with me this day, for the queen proved too troublesome for two separated rooks. My very respected friend resigned after his 49th move. In his words, my defence held up and countered when it mattered. Thank you Frank and I cannot wait for our next OTB game!
