Victorious Vengence

Today, something delightful happened, something as rare as a ten percent chance, as Vynesh puts it. I lost tempo from beating around the bush with the centre control. And soon black gains vast space and speedy developments. Like what the great Bobby Fischer said, or was it someone else, good tactics flow from good positions.

When the Arabs conquered Persia, chess was taken up by the Muslim world and subsequently, through the Moorish conquest of Hispania, spread to Southern Europe. In Europe, the game evolved into its current form in the 15th century. In the second half of the 19th century, modern tournament play began, and the first world chess championship was held in 1886.
